Full-text search: https://www.familysearch.org/en/search/full-text/ - I've found I have to put the name I'm searching for in both the Keywords and Name. I use parenthesis around the Keywords. Remember, surnames can have different spellings.
Catalog: https://www.familysearch.org/en/search/catalog - invaluable in finding primary sources. My favorite is to search for a Place. Then you can see all of the online records available for that location: marriage, court, deeds, etc
